Apple Pay will launch in Denmark at the end of 2017, along with other Nordic countries such as Finland and Sweden. So far Apple users from more than 20 countries can use the tech-giant’s payment service. The service will bring competition to the highly successful app MobilePay in terms of alternative payments in Denmark. Apple Pay works such that a credit card will be connected to the app, which can be used to pay with.
Most Danish payment terminals are ready to receive Apple Pay payments, but in order to fully enter the market Apple are in need of agreements with banks and credit card providers, which has proved an issue so far. The service is expected to enter the market in Q4 2017, but an exact launch date has not yet been announced.
