CEE-Fintech and Copenhagen FinTech have signed a Memorandum of Understanding and have already taken the first steps towards a closer collaboration between the two fintech ecosystems.
During the Money 20/20 Europe conference in Copenhagen in June the CEE-Fintech founder Zsombor Imre visited the Copenhagen FinTech Lab.
CEE-Fintech is a regional fintech platform that matches fintech startups with financial institutions, technological integrators and investors interested in the field. CEE-Fintech is run by Invendor, based in Budapest, Hungary and serves the fintech hubs of the Central Eastern European region.
As follow up to this visit, Copenhagen FinTech was kindly invited to participate and give a presentation at the MKB Fintech Lab Demo Day in Budapest on the 22 July. The CEO of Copenhagen FinTech, Thomas Krogh Jensen, presented the Danish fintech ecosystem and the current trends with financial corporates collaborating intensely with fintech-startups.
“We know that there has already been initial interest from Danish Fintech startups to explore the opportunities in the region around Budapest and I personally think there is a potential for a much closer collaboration. This was absolutely confirmed when I visited both the Demo Day and several universities in Budapest. No doubt that there is a huge pool of both innovative ideas and incredible talent”.
Copenhagen FinTech was founded in September 2016 as both an innovation network (bridging academia with startups and the established industry) and an incubator and co-working space for fintech companies, with a remit to encourage innovation and to position Denmark as a global player in the fintech sector. The specialized fintech co-workingspace – Copenhagen FinTech Lab opened in November 2016, now hosting 38 fintech companies with more than a 125 fintech specialists and growing rapidly.
“During the Money 20/20 conference we had the pleasure of welcoming the Hungarian startup Blueopes in the FinTech Lab where they met with some of our partners. Good example of the interconnected world of fintech. It is not the size of the hub that determines success, but the network and connections that it have. If you are to scale your fintech solutions globally you need global partners with deep knowledge and experiences within the different financial ecosystems – and we are therefore very excited to add CEE-Fintech to our long list of fintech friends around the world”, says CEO of Copenhagen FinTech Thomas Krogh Jensen.
Zsombor Imre, founder of CEE-Fintech added: “the co-operation with Copenhagen FinTech is an important milestone in setting up a pan-European fintech platform. Small domestic markets, stand-alone fintech hubs cannot exploit their innovation potential without learning from one-another and co-operating. We strongly believe in the power of sharing knowledge and best practices and Copenhagen FinTech is an excellent partner that shares these values.“
