The financial industry is rapidly changing and the recent years has shown how new technology can contribute to create innovative solutions, new business models, efficient processes etc. Fintech has changed the financial services industry and created an increasing focus on the digital agenda in order to avoid being disrupted in the long run. From discussing how new actors could possibly disrupt established players, there is now more focus on how startups and corporates can gain mutual value from collaboration.
This development has also found its way to the insurance industry where there is an increasing interest in startups and established players who is capable of think innovatively, deliver convenient solutions, and adjusting the business to the millennial generation, who will be the customer segment of the future. A recent report from PwC shows that 74% of the questioned insurance companies believe that some part of their business is at risk of disruption, while almost a third of insurers do not deal with Fintech at all.
An emerging global trend is the development of Insurtech. Accelerator programs for startups who wants to change the insurance industry has seen the light of day in several countries, which means that there will soon be a critical mass of companies rethinking insurance. Therefore Copenhagen Fintech and the Innovation Network for Finance IT invite to a session on the transformation of the insurance industry. We will discover how established actors in the industry are working with new solutions and innovation to meet customer demands of the future as well as looking into how startups perceive the possibilities and challenges in the insurance industry.
