Lost and Founders is a series of events focusing on the most essential topics for fintech founders. To do so, for each session we invite industry/subject experts and a fintech founder, together they offer actionable advice on the topic and insights based on their experiences. We finish each session with a fireside chat, where the attendees have the opportunity to ask questions to the two speakers.
Have you alerady or are you looking to partner with a large financial institution? Then this session is for you, we will dive into the barriers to partnering and how as a startup you can overcome those barriers best.
Session #4: Partnering with Incumbents
The vast majority of fintech startups today build and scale their business through partnering up with the established industry. The benefits are obvious, they have the customer base, licenses to operate, industry expertise, pools of internal resources and many of the systems that you have no interest in reinventing. The good news is that the incumbents are also eager to collaborate with fintechs in order innovate on their current model and explore future potential models. Unfortunately, regardless of the good intent from both sides many experience extreme difficulty in getting these partnership to work. This Lost & Founders is about gathering fintech leaders and talk about these difficulties and learning from those who managed to successfully land the partnerships.
To kickstart the discussions we will have both a presentation from Copenhagen Fintech as well as from Matter Pension. Copenhagen Fintech has gathered all the partners and sponsors and co-created in a seperate workshop the barriers that they face in workign with fintech startups – we will share these results here. Next, Matter Pension who has successfully partnered up with Skandia will share their learnings from being involved in both successful and less fruitful partnership processes.
