Mikael Munck appointed new Chairman of the Board of Directors of Copenhagen FinTech

Copenhagen FinTech has found its new Chairman of the Board of Directors. It is the former Global Head of Technology and Operations in Saxo Bank, Mikael Munck.

Mikael Munck succeeds Ulrik Nødgaard, CEO of FinansDanmark, who acted as temporary Chairman. Ulrik Nødgaard is pleased with the appointment of a new Chairman that has a sound commercial and technical background.

“We have been looking for a candidate with a great insight into this particular cocktail of finance and IT. We have found this in Mikael Munck and I am sure that he is the right person to help Copenhagen FinTech take the next step” says Ulrik Nødgaard.

Mikael Munck was in the period 2009-2015 heading Saxo Banks IT development, first as CIO and then later as Global Head of Technology and Operations. In 2012 he was honored as Danish CIO of the year. Prior to this, he acted as CEO and co-owner in the tech startup Initto which was successfully sold to Saxo Bank in October 2009.

Mikael Munck looks forward to helping Copenhagen FinTech with the endeavor of putting Denmark on the fintech-map.

I look forward to bringing my experience and network into play and contribute to the fulfillment of this projects great potential” says Mikael Munck.

It is Finansforbundet, the City of Copenhagen and FinansDanmark who are the initiators behind Copenhagen FinTech, which builds on the solid foundation created by CFIR, Copenhagen FinTech Innovation and Research.

Copenhagen FinTechs vision is to establish a Danish fintech hub in Nordic topclass. The ambition is to create an ecosystem that supports Denmark’s leading position within the development of digital financial solutions and to create the optimum conditions to continue the development of fintech in Denmark.

The initiative is supported by a range of private and public partners, sponsors, and members of Copenhagen FinTech – who all shares the vision of moving the Nordic fintech sector even further ahead on a global scale.
