Q&A

Danish SMEs can apply for funding of collaborative innovation projects within financial technology (fintech). Projects must involve at least one SME and at least one other party, such as a large company, a knowledge institution, another SME, or a public authority.

Up to DKK 100,000 to each participating SME, and up to DKK 200,000 per project. The grant may cover up to 70 per cent of the project’s total salary costs, calculated at an hourly rate of DKK 406 plus an overhead supplement of 40 per cent.

Use the application portal – it opens no later than Feb 2.  Read more about the application in the Conditions chapter 4.

Applications will be:
- reviewed for compliance with the formal requirements by Copenhagen Fintech staff
- assessed by an internal evaluation committee of Copenhagen Fintech staff
- approved by a grant committee consisting of members of Copenhagen Fintech’s Board of Directors

Submitted projects will be assessed according to criteria concerning:
- Clarity and novelty of the proposed innovation
- Commercial and societal relevance
- Feasibility, collaboration and cost-effectiveness

Yes. However, the application must clearly describe how the funded SMEs will engage in active collaboration targeted at innovation that is commercially relevant to all of them. The provision of consultancy services is not eligible for funding. Only Danish SMEs are eligible for funding.

A collaboration partner may be a large enterprise, a knowledge institution, another SME, or a public authority, agency, or organisation participating in the project in its capacity as a market regulator or potential customer.

No. Only the applicant and any other funded SME in the project are required to be incorporated in Denmark. A non-funded collaboration partner may, for example, be a Nordic or other European company relevant to international scaling.

No. However, full contact details for the collaboration partner must be provided as part of the application. Documentation of an agreement between the partners in relation to the project is required only if requested by Copenhagen Fintech.

Yes. A similar call is planned to be published before summer 2026. However, an SME may not receive more than one grant across the two calls.

In that case, Copenhagen Fintech may decide to reject such applications or to award partial funding. Applicants may choose to resubmit their application under a subsequent call.
