Chainalysis now ranks among top 8 most valuable Danish-founded IT companies
Chainalysis, a blockchain analytics firm, is crawling at record speed up Computerworld's annual inventory list of Denmark’s 50 most valuable IT successes, after spending the past two years overtaking well-known and established IT companies such as Sitecore, Saxo Bank and Trustpilot.
Established in Denmark in 2014 by Jan Møller, Michael Grønager and Jonathan Levin, the firm was launched to help government agencies, cryptocurrency businesses, and financial institutions engage confidently with cryptocurrency.
Two years ago, the company, which now trades in more than 50 countries, wasn’t even featured on the list, something which has changed considerably after a year of skyrocketing growth in 2021.
In March 2021, Chainalysis announced the closing of their $100m Series D financing round, the company’s fourth raise in less than two years, which doubled its valuation to over $2b. This announcement came four months after the company secured a $100m Series C round at a valuation of $1b, earning its initial unicorn status.
In June, only three months later, Chainalysis announces new investment round again, with another $100m injected into the company, thus reaching the valuation of DKK 26b. This means Chainalysis‘ value more than doubled since the last capital round in March, when the firm was proclaimed a double unicorn.
As the Danish co-founder of the company, Michael Grønager, to the media Techcrunch, in connection with the first investment:
- We have gathered more information about what is happening in the blockchain than anyone else in the cryptocurrency market. That information gives us the opportunity to help our customers make better decisions based on data.
Now, Chainalysis has its headquarters in New York, with offices also operating in London and Copenhagen. According to several research companies, Chainalysis currently has about 400 employees, the majority of whom work in the United States.
